Who is the President of BCCI? Full List of BCCI Chairmen (1928-2025)

Who is the president of BCCI in 2025

Since 2025, Roger Binny has served as the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) president. Former Indian cricket player Binny, who played a key role in India's 1983 World Cup-winning squad, took over as head coach of the BCCI in October 2022, replacing Sourav Ganguly. During his tenure, he has prioritized international partnerships, grassroots development, and remarkable team accomplishments, including India's triumph in the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup.

Roger Binny

In Indian cricket, the most respected honorary administrative position is held by the President of the BCCI. While the post is nominally unpaid, it bears great power in defining the course of the sport in India and abroad.

Key responsibilities include:

Presiding over BCCI meetings and representing the board in national and international forums.

Directing the formulation of financial strategies, infrastructure development, and cricket operational decisions.

Taking the lead in organizing domestic and international games, player contracts, and television rights.

Ensuring adherence to the legal frameworks and the BCCI constitution.

The BCCI President also serves as a spokesperson and figurehead of Indian cricket and is instrumental in policy formulation.

The Contributions of Recent BCCI Presidents

Sourav Ganguly (2019–2022): Focused on domestic cricket reform, welfare of players, and improved communication with international boards.

Shashank Manohar (2008–2011, 2015–2016) is well-known for his efforts to improve transparency and accountability in finance. "Anurag Thakur (2016–2017) navigated a challenging phase of governance issues,

Managing a reorganization initiated by the Supreme Court, all while pushing for modernization within the BCCI."

During his numerous tenures, Jagmohan Dalmiya laid the foundation for the industrialization of Indian cricket, making India a significant world financial force in the sport.

How is the president of the BCCI chosen

The President of the BCCI is elected through a voting process held during the board's Annual General Meeting (AGM). Member associations from the North, South, East, West, and Central zones submit nominations. To be elected, a candidate must have the support of the majority and be a member in good standing.

The election is supervised by an electoral officer, and candidates are often chosen on the basis of their administrative prowess, cricketing background, and ability to work with key stakeholders such as the ICC and government organizations.

In the event of a mid-term vacancy, the BCCI Vice-President may take over until new elections are held.
