Iyer emerged as the leading run-getter of the month, amassing 243 runs and playing a pivotal role in India’s triumph at the ICC Champions Trophy.
His win marks India’s second consecutive monthly award, following Shubman Gill’s recognition in February.
Throughout the Champions Trophy, Iyer proved to be an indispensable figure in India’s batting lineup, particularly in the middle order. His composed stroke play and ability to stabilize the innings were instrumental in India’s path to lifting the trophy.
Reflecting on the achievement, Iyer expressed his gratitude:
"It’s an incredible honor to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March. This award holds even more meaning since it comes in a month where we won the Champions Trophy — a moment that will stay with me forever.
Contributing to India’s success on such a grand platform is what every cricketer aspires to. I’m deeply thankful to my teammates, coaches, and all the support staff who’ve backed me throughout.
A big thank you to the fans as well — your constant support and energy mean the world to us.”
The 30-year-old batter accumulated 172 runs in three matches in March, with an average of 57.33 and a strike rate of 77.47, delivering several impressive performances.
One of his standout efforts was a 79-run innings off 98 deliveries against New Zealand in the Group A stage, featuring 4 boundaries and 2 sixes, helping India post a respectable 250 on a difficult surface.
He followed that up with a steady 45 off 62 balls in the semi-final against Australia, anchoring the chase. In the final, he played a composed knock of 48 from 62 deliveries, helping India secure the title with a win over New Zealand.
